Verizon FIOS or COMCAST?

We are so excited about moving into the new neighborhood. However, we can't seem to get phone or internet service. I have heard this IS the most difficult. After spending probably 24 hours or more on the phone with each of these service providers, I am finally at a standstill. I have spoken to probably no less than 50 people and none are of any help. All tell me that COMCAST and FIOS is not available for us. I know this is untrue. However, I can't seem to get them to budge! I really am about to pull my hair out on this. If ANYONE has any solutions or contacts or anything that helped them get this service then please let us know!!
Thanks-

  1. We didn't have any trouble with our FIOS hookup when we moved in October 08. I do recall Rhonda mentioning that the few people who moved in 4-6 weeks before us, did not have FIOS as an option. Perhaps the phase you moved into is not complete enough for Verizon to have finished their installation. We also struggled with installation companies not finding us on their GPS lookup system and immediately saying that service wasn't available since we didn't exist on their map. It took a bit of discussion, but we were able to clear up the confusion and get the services we needed.

I wish I could be of more help.

  2. We had the same problem. I recommend calling the Virginia Telecommunications Commission/Association. I have the contact info at work and can send the info soon. Or look it up online, call and file a complaint. They immediately contacted Verizon and said if they don't connect asap, they'd get fined. It worked.

  3. When Fios came out to wire my home, I knew something was very wrong when the tech took 6 hours to do it. It never worked right and most times I couldn't connect. I ended up spending hours on the phone with tech support and begged them to come back out to look at the wiring job. They refused. I ended up cutting my losses and canceled, and they charged me for it. Then I got a Verizon wireless thumb drive and that works great. During my final walk through, I made Stanley Martin look at the wiring, and they said it had been bungled and redit it for me at no charge. I just have no desire to go back to Fios at this point.

  4. I moved into 2561 S Kenmore Court a few weeks ago and spent countless hours on the phone with Verizon since April. I got FIOS service Friday 6/18. It appears there is a breakdown in communication between the service department and engineering. Your best bet is to contact engineering directly at 800-924-2627. They were able to get us set up with an expedited appointment, as engineering work was completed on our row nearly two weeks ago. If you need further assistance feel free to stop by, as I have a notebook full of phone numbers of people who were able to help me.

  5. We are in 2531 S Kenmore and we didn't have any problems. Took about 3 hours since they had to make the main connection to the signal box.
