Neigborhood Watch

All - I received the following e-mail from a member of our community and wanted to pass it on:

Tonight I had some men bang on my door for quite some time and yell (although I could not tell what they were yelling) and they would not go away--despite me asking who it was several times they would not respond. I did not answer the door since I was home alone with the baby but when I looked out the upstairs window a van with no windows saying "capital meat" was outside.  I googled this company since I had no delivery planned and found several sites where people talk about the men who travel in this van being scam artists who have even forced their way into peoples homes or followed people in to their garage trying to get people to pay large sums of money for meat products they are selling. They are rated "f" by the BBB and it sounds like they will harass people who say no and yell insults among other scary things. I stared at the van for quite some time while the men sounded like they were banging on my neighboors door next and after staring at the van they sped away.

I just wanted to warn everyone to be care especially as the holidays approach.  If you see this van in our neighborhood again please try and get the license plate and call the police.

Thank you and I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Community Issues

All - I have been aprised of a few issues in the neighborhood:

1. Stealing trash bins.  Please remember that two wrongs don't make a right.  If your trash can was taken please call the county and report the issue.  While you are waiting for a new trash bin to be delivered please don't steal other homeowners trash bins and put it in your garage.  We witnessed this last night.  If you need a place to put your trash please feel free to use our bin until your new one is delivered.

2.  Please be aware of the noise ordinance in our community.  The noise ordinance begins at 11 pm and I believe extends through 0700 in tne morning.  I will double check with the county, however the bottomline is be conscious of your actions and how they are going to affect your neighbors.  If you are going to have a party tell your neighbors ahead of time and try to keep the noise at a reasonable level after 11 pm.

If you have any further issues please feel free to send me an e-mail at Shirlingtoncrestowners@gmail.com or laurenmaher30@gmail.com.  And as always please feel free to stop by and say hi if you have any issues that are easier to communicate in person.

Hope everyone is gearing up for a wonderful holiday season!

Other issues

Thanks for putting this together, Lauren.

A couple of additional items that my husband, Jon, and I recently brought up with Rhonda:

1. Parking. Contractors, homeowners and guests frequently park behind our row (S. Four Mile Run Dr.) blocking garage access. I've asked that "No Parking" signs be placed behind this area and was told that signs have been ordered.

2. Landscaping & Watering. We inquired about landscaping issues and were told that the landscapers will be back within a year of planting to replace dead plants. Additionally, we contacted Atlas Plumbing (we must go through Atlas or risk voiding home warranty) about adding a hose bib at the front of our house to keep our landscaping green and were quoted $200 for the job. Not a bad price, although it would have made more sense for Stanley Martin to add them during construction.

Welcome

Hello!  My name is Lauren and my fiance (Brian) and I live in 2658 S. Kenmore Court and I have started this blog to address any issues that arise in our community.  I have created this blog as well as the following e-mail address:  shirlingtoncrestowners@gmail.com.  I can also be reached at 707-631-0800 or feel free to stop by at any time!!

At this point in time there are two issues that I am attempting to address with Stanley Martin.

1)  The lack of attention to the maintenance of the existing landscaping.   Many of you have already complained to Steve Rugan that the landscaping is not being maintained properly.  The common areas especially the grass is in need of a regular watering schedule.  Additionally, in the long term we need to evaluate to cost of watering the common areas (Water Truck, owners watering or a HOA owned sprinkler system).  This issues is compounded by the fact that unit owners do not have access to water from the front of their residences.  Stanley Martin has addressed this issue by stating that the facet is in the garage and a hose and be run through your residence.  I find this to be unacceptable.

2) The need for a community meeting.  I am still researching the requirement for these meetings.  I believe they are required to conduct these meetings every quarter, however I can not confirm this statement.

Lastly, please e-mail me with your e-mail address and I will add you to the listing to be able to add posts to this listing.  However, int he meantime if you have information that you would like posted please just let me know and I will post it immediately.

Thank you and I look forward to working and meeting you all!
